Faced with a diminishing labor market, budget cuts, increased expenses and increasing responsibilities, hospital HTM departments are feeling the stress. Vendors whose customers are HTM departments are in a position to help in creative ways that benefit all parties. This facilitated brainstorming session will ask for vendor and HTM participants alike to think outside the box about ways vendors can support their clients with some of their key pain points.

This session will address best practices in managing replacement parts efficiently and cost effectively. Topics will include: managing a parts stock room, utilizing your supply chain’s warehouse and distribution system for centralizing and distributing parts where they are needed, the pros and cons of having parts in stock versus buying as needed, preparing for manufacturer discontinuations and back stock issues, and determining whether to get a contract to cover parts, buy them off contract from the OEM, or buy them from a third party.
