The Nuvolo Apprenticeship Certification Program

We’re proud to support the BMET Apprenticeship Program to help HTM departments in hiring and certifying BMET apprentices – and are pledging $10,000 to make it happen.

Program Overview

The BMET Apprenticeship is a two-year training program that offers formalized training in a real-world environment. The goal is to bring structure to the BMET training process and to attract new professionals to the field.

After completing the program and three required certifications, apprentices receive a nationally recognized certificate issued by AAMI and the U.S. Department of Labor.

How It Works

The first seven health systems or stand-alone hospitals to enroll in AAMI’s BMET Apprenticeship Program by December 1, 2021 will be automatically eligible to receive up to $725 per apprentice for up to two apprentices. Each apprentice must also have enrolled in AAMI’s BMET Apprenticeship Program by December 1, 2021. A total of up to 14 apprentices will have the cost of their certification tests covered by Nuvolo.

Nuvolo will donate the funds to AAMI, who oversees the BMET Apprenticeship Program. AAMI then will apply the donated funds as a reimbursement to the eligible participating organizations once the apprentice passes each of the required certification tests by June 30, 2025. The tests are:

AAMI’s Certified Associate in Biomedical Technology, completed the first year of the apprenticeship. The cost is $200-$225 (AAMI member price).

COMPTIA – IT Fundamentals, completed the second year of the apprenticeship. The cost is- $125.

AAMI’s Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician, the last requirement of the apprenticeship and completed at the end of the second year. The cost is $350-$375 (AAMI member price).

Disclaimer: Nuvolo has allocated a maximum of $725 per apprentice (to cover no more than three certification tests each) for up to 14 apprentices total. Only health systems or stand-alone hospitals–and not apprentices or individuals—are eligible to receive funding from the Nuvolo Apprenticeship Certification Program. It is the responsibility of the organization participating in the Apprenticeship Program to establish with their apprentices whether they will pay for or reimburse for all certification tests taken or only those that the apprentice passes. Nuvolo and AAMI are not responsible for reimbursing or crediting individuals participating in the BMET Apprenticeship Program. Organizations or their apprentices enrolling in the BMET Apprenticeship Program after December 1, 2021 will not be eligible to participate in the Nuvolo Apprenticeship Certification Program. Nuvolo is not responsible for any delays or failures of AAMI to reimburse/credit eligible organizations for passed certification tests. If an apprentice leaves a participating organization for any reason or does not pass a certification test, Nuvolo and AAMI are not responsible for applying any remaining funds to another apprentice in the organization. Participation in the Nuvolo Apprenticeship Certification Program is non-transferrable to another organization or apprentice.
